The City Of Good Living

San Carlos Backs Local Craft. Ours Is Milled In-House.

San Carlos calls itself the City of Good Living, and Laurel Street — the walkable downtown spine — is full of the kind of independent, craft-minded businesses that reward doing things well. Implant work is craft too, and ours is unusually literal about it: the final teeth are milled in our own lab by engineer Andy Jain, not shipped to a far-off facility.

A real patient at the practice. Individual results vary.

The drive is easy. US-101 or I-280 north from San Carlos to our Geary office in the Richmond District runs about thirty-five minutes on a normal day. Hiller Aviation Museum and the San Carlos Airport sit at your back; you're headed the other way, into the city, for care that's hard to find closer.

What sets the practice apart is that it's implant-only, owned by the two surgeons who do everything — Dr. Sam Jain and Dr. Arpana Gupta. With the lab on-site, many qualifying single and multiple implant cases get permanent teeth in about a day. The first consultation and 3D CBCT scan, worth $499, are free.

San Carlos took The City of Good Living as its motto and built a Laurel Street worth the claim — restaurants, hardware, kids on scooters, the whole civic bargain working. Good living is chewing without thinking about it. That's the entire product here, engineered one titanium root at a time, and the first look at whether it's available to you is free. Book the free consultation and we’ll plan the logistics with you, mile by mile.

Implant treatment for San Carlos

Made Well, Made Here: The San Carlos Cases

San Carlos searches for dental implants plainly, and asks whether a bridge or an implant is the better call. The City of Good Living will recognize work that is made well and made locally.

The bridge or the implant

A bridge caps two neighbors to carry a false tooth; a single tooth implant replaces the root and leaves the neighbors alone, with a crown milled in our own lab and, for qualifying patients, permanent in as little as 24 hours. The implants versus bridges page sets out when a bridge still makes sense.

The lab you can see

The teeth are designed and milled in our own CAD/CAM lab under engineer Andy Jain, and patients can see it. That is why a full arch, All-on-4 or our All-on-8 Robust design, is finished in about 72 hours for qualifying patients rather than after months in a temporary.

Everything else

Several teeth on an implant bridge, a loose denture held still on the implant-supported dentures page, a thinned upper jaw rescued with zygomatic implants: the free CBCT scan says which applies.

Made Well And Made Locally: Dental Implants For San Carlos

San Carlos took “The City of Good Living” as its motto, and the implant version of good living is chewing without thinking about it. The searches from San Carlos are plain, dental implants and a bridge or an implant, and so is the answer: teeth milled in our own lab by the surgeons who placed the implants.

A bridge or an implant? The San Carlos question

A previous dentist recommending a bridge is the single most common San Carlos story. A bridge caps the two neighboring teeth to carry a false one; an implant replaces the root itself and leaves the neighbors alone, and published California ranges (September 2026) put an implant with its crown at about $3,500–$7,500 against $8,000–$11,000 for an implant bridge carrying several teeth. The implants versus bridges page sets out when each is the better choice; the free 3D CBCT scan is how the question is settled for your own mouth.

Milled in-house, which is the part you can see

The teeth are designed and milled in our own CAD/CAM lab under engineer Andy Jain rather than ordered from one, and patients can see it. For qualifying single-implant patients that is why the permanent crown can arrive in as little as 24 hours, and for qualifying full-arch patients the final custom-milled set in about 72 hours; candidacy is confirmed at the scan. The single tooth page and the All-on-4 page walk through each.

Up 101 to Geary

Our San Francisco office on Geary Boulevard serves San Carlos: from Laurel Street and White Oaks, US-101 north then I-280 to 19th Avenue and east on Geary takes about thirty-five to forty-five minutes; from Devonshire and the 280 side, straight up 280. Both offices are complete implant centers with the same two owner-surgeons, so we confirm the better routing when you book. Every quote is itemized in writing after the free consultation and scan (a $499 value), PPO benefits are verified for you, and we are open until 7:30 PM on weekdays and 6:00 PM on Saturdays, with Sunday by appointment.

Pricing for San Carlos patients

How The Insurance Side Actually Works

The ranges and the fee

Published California ranges (September 2026): an implant with its crown about $3,500–$7,500, an implant bridge $8,000–$11,000, a fixed arch $20,000–$35,000 per jaw. Our All-on-4 arch is a fixed $14,999 with every inclusion written out, itemized after the free consultation and scan (a $499 value).

PPO, claims, payments

A PPO plan contributes to parts of implant treatment up to its annual maximum; we verify the benefit in writing and file the claims. HMO and Medi-Cal cannot be accepted for implants. Financing across four lenders is compared with a soft-check pre-qualification.

The Questions We HearMost Often From San Carlos

What is the drive from San Carlos?

I-280 north to CA-1/19th Avenue, then east on Geary into the Richmond District — 32 to 45 minutes depending on the hour. The consultation, 3D scan, and written plan happen there in one appointment; both offices are complete implant centers, so surgery and same-day teeth are available at either.

A previous dentist recommended a bridge. Why an implant instead?

A bridge replaces the crown you see but not the root you do not, and it usually means grinding down the healthy teeth on either side. An implant puts a root back into the bone, which is what keeps the bone from shrinking. Both are legitimate; the scan and your own priorities decide.

How does the insurance side actually work?

We work with all PPO plans, are in-network with many, verify your exact benefits in writing, and file the claim for you. Most plans cap yearly benefits at a set maximum and treat implants as major work, so expect a real contribution rather than full coverage.

Can I see the lab that makes my teeth?

Yes — it is in the Fremont building and patients are welcome to look. Our CAD/CAM engineer designs and mills the restorations a few steps from the surgical suites, which is why the timelines here are measured in hours rather than the weeks an outside laboratory needs.

I recently visited Center for Implant Dentistry after developing an infection around a crowned tooth. My regular dentist wasn't able to treat the problem and referred me to a specialist. A friend who had undergone a bone graft procedure there about a year ago recommended this facility, so I decided to schedule a free consultation. From the moment I arrived, I had a great experience. I met Neel, a very knowledgeable and friendly young gentleman who was easy to talk to. He explained the types of procedures they perform and how they specialize in dental implants and complex dental cases. After asking about my concerns, he quickly took some pictures using their advanced technology. Just a few minutes later, I met Dr. Jain. He took the time to discuss my dental problem and thoroughly explained the recommended treatment plan in a way that was simple and easy to understand. I really appreciated how clearly he explained everything and made sure I understood my options. Then came the biggest surprise! Dr. Jain asked if I wanted to proceed with the treatment that same day. I was shocked because I had only come in for a consultation! Since I was already off work, I decided to take care of the problem right away. Dr. Jain extracted my infected tooth, cleaned out the infection, and placed the implant--all in the same visit! I never expected to have everything done that day, but I was grateful that they were able to address the problem so quickly. I also found the cost reasonable, considering the complexity of the procedure and how quickly they were able to take care of my situation. They accepted my dental insurance and FSA, which helped save me a significant amount of money. Neel provided a detailed treatment plan and explained the costs, including what my insurance would cover. I really appreciated the transparency and the time he took to help me understand the financial side of my treatment. Because it was getting late, they weren't able to finish my temporary crown that day, so I had to return the following day to have it completed. Overall, I'm very grateful for the care I received at Center for Implant Dentistry. From Neel's excellent communication and helpful guidance to Dr. Jain's thorough explanation and treatment, the entire experience was reassuring and efficient. Kudos to all their staff . Very friendly and professional . I highly recommend this facility to anyone who needs specialized dental care or dental implants. They made what could have been a very stressful experience much easier than I expected!
