We run the process in the opposite order. Before any surgery, Dr. Jain designs your new smile in your mouth — adding and reshaping composite on your existing teeth, no extractions, adjusting direction and length tooth by tooth until the result suits your face. About four hours in the chair, and you're looking at your future smile in the mirror. Then you wear it: eat with it, speak with it, show it to the people whose opinions you actually care about — for a day, several days, a week if you need it.
Only after you approve it does the engineering start. The trial smile is scanned digitally and becomes the blueprint: the shape of the building is decided, so now the foundation — implants placed at the exact depths and angles that support those exact teeth — can be laid to match. A recent patient came in with worn, uneven teeth and no idea what would actually look right on his face. No extractions, no surgery — Dr. Jain spent the session adding composite, altering shape and length, checking the result against his expressions. Four hours later the man was wearing his future smile. He kept it on for a day while he made his decision, then came back for surgery already knowing exactly what he was getting. The teeth he chews with today are the teeth he approved in that mirror.
Another patient — a mother who told us, 'I'm done raising my kids; now it's time to take care of myself' — arrived with gum disease pushing her teeth outward, loose and flaring. Same process: in one afternoon Dr. Jain redirected the line of her teeth with composite so they no longer flared, and she saw, for the first time in years, what her face looked like with a healthy smile. She approved it. Surgery followed the approved plan — eight implants per jaw, one jaw per day — and her final teeth were installed on day five. Once the smile is approved, the full-arch rhythm is deliberate — engineered, not rushed. Day one: smile design. Day two: upper jaw surgery. We dedicate a full surgical day to each jaw rather than wrapping both into one afternoon, because implant placement is foundation work — depth, angle, spread, and torque all done meticulously, with IV sedation if you want to sleep through it. Day three: lower jaw. Day four: you rest while our on-site lab mills your teeth from the scanned design. Day five: your final teeth are installed.
No months of temporary acrylic, no twenty visits, no lab round-trips — because the manufacturing happens down the hall, the design you approved on day one is the zirconia you're wearing on day five. And because the foundation carries enough implants for real chewing support, you eat normal food right away — the practical payoff of designing the building before laying its foundation.

Trying On A Smile — What People Ask Before They Do
What exactly is smile design — is it just a computer preview?
Computer simulation is one tool we use, but a simulation is still the computer — a picture of teeth on a screen, not teeth in your face. Real smile design here happens in your mouth: Dr. Jain adds and reshapes dental composite on your existing teeth, adjusting length, direction, and proportion until the smile suits your actual face, expressions, and personality. About four hours later you're looking at your future smile in a mirror, not on a monitor — and no teeth have been removed to get there.
Do you have to grind down or pull teeth to design the smile?
No — the design phase is additive. Composite is layered onto the teeth you already have to test shape, angle, and length, which is how a patient with flared, drifted, or worn teeth can see them corrected the same afternoon. Even teeth that are loose from gum disease can usually be redirected this way for the design. Extractions, if your treatment needs them, happen later — during surgery, after you've already approved exactly what the final result will look like.
How do I know I'll actually like my new smile?
Because you wear it first. After the design session you live with the trial smile — eat with it, speak with it, smile at people you know — for a day, a few days, or even a week or more if your schedule needs it. It's strong enough for normal use. If something feels off, we adjust the design before surgery, when changes are easy. That's the entire point: the one person who has to love this smile approves it while it's still adjustable.
What happens to the design when surgery day comes?
It becomes the blueprint for everything. Once you approve the trial smile, we scan it digitally — and from that moment the whole treatment follows the plan, the way a building follows the architect's drawings. The implants are placed at the depths and angles that support those exact teeth, and the final zirconia arch is milled in our own lab to reproduce the design you already wore and approved. Surgery executes the plan; it never improvises one.
Who actually does the smile design work?
Dr. Jain, personally, with his hands in your mouth — not a lab technician working from a photo. At most offices, smile esthetics are delegated: the case ships out, and the lab is told to 'do your best.' Here the surgeon who will place your implants is the same person who sculpts the trial smile, because the design decisions — tooth direction, lip support, how much tooth shows when you talk — are exactly the decisions the surgery has to serve. It takes longer this way. It's also why the results fit the face they belong to.
Does smile design add time or cost to full-arch treatment?
It's built into the plan, not bolted on. For a typical full-arch case the rhythm runs: day one, smile design; day two, upper jaw surgery — we give each jaw its own full day rather than rushing both into one afternoon; day three, lower jaw; day four, your teeth are manufactured in our on-site lab while you rest; day five, your final teeth are installed. The design session is where the whole treatment's decisions get made, which is exactly why it comes first and why we don't skip it.
